I just wanted to post a status report for everyone wondering why JEN Bars have been absent from so many markets this summer.
My wife Linda, the founder of JEN Bars suffered a serious fall two years ago in a King Soopers grocery store. She slipped on some milk that was on the floor and fell onto her right hip.
Since that time, her condition has gotten dramatically worse. She has been almost incapacitated for the better part of 8 months. On July 11th she was admitted into the Littleton emergency room for a variety of issues related to her back injury. After almost a week, the doctors decided surgery was her only option, and they proceeded to place titanium rods in her back, fuse two vertebrae together, remove one of the disks, and remove a large cyst that was pressing on the spinal nerve. Needless to say, our life took a dramatic turn due to all of this.
As I said earlier, for the last 8 months she has been incapacitated. I have been both caretaker for my wife and full time dad to our daughter. On the side I work as an Exercise Physiologist as much as I can. In my spare time I make as many JEN Bars as I can to fulfill our retail locations demands. There just wasn't enough time, energy, or resources to make enough bars for the markets as well. We had to bow out of all but the Old South Pearl Street market in Denver on Sundays.
We still have many months of recovery for Linda, including physical therapy. But, there is light at the end of our long, dark tunnel, we hope.
For those of you who have waited patiently for JEN Bars to be more available, we offer our heartfelt thanks and reassurances that we will get the train back on the tracks at some point, and return bigger and better than ever. For now, be patient with us, visit some of our retailers, or drop in on Sunday and talk to me down on Pearl Street.
Sincerely
Larry
